MHEG EPG

S&T’s newly designed MHEG EPG (Electronic Programme Guide) application provides a customisable, configurable and re-skinnable product for broadcasters and operators.

Unlike an EPG resident in the set-top box, which is subject to the manufacturer’s interpretation and implementation, S&T’s MHEG EPG is platform-wide and so provides the same look and behaviour on all receivers. This delivers consistency of user access to services, combined with the ability to launch with the current channel’s schedule listings in view. It also enables broadcasters to display platform and channel branding, together with advertising banners or sponsors’ logos on the EPG if required.

The EPG application can accept inputs from many kinds of schedule data in XML format, which are processed using S&T’s software at the head-end to provide an efficient datastream for transmission. Compressing the information inside an Object Carousel makes it extremely bandwidth-efficient, especially when compared to EITschedule-based EPG data.

MHEG EPG can also support integration with PVR systems, offering the user the ability to 'book' recordings or series from the EPG with an interface to receiver manufacturer's own PVR engines.

See the attached data sheet for more information. The MHEG EPG is offered with flexible licensing terms depending upon the number of multiplexes or services carried. Please contact S&T for further information.
