S&T has all the right answers for Challenge

London, UK, November 2, 2011: Strategy & Technology (S&T) has provided an updated MHEG-5 application for the Freeview version of Challenge, the Sky-owned channel that shows classic game shows such as Play Your Cards Right, Family Fortunes and Bullseye.

The brightly designed service can be accessed by pressing the Red Button on Challenge (Channel 46) or through any of the Sky-owned services on Freeview, including the Sky Text channel 108, giving viewers a selection of games, holiday offers and classified advertisements.

Challenge is using a version of S&T’s MHEG Presenter, already in place at Sky, which allows broadcasters to create complex applications using graphical layout tools and structured content data, without the need to write any MHEG code.

The UK Freeview digital terrestrial platform is available in 74% of TV homes with 38% of viewers enjoying Freeview on their main TV set.

Colin Prior, Director, Strategy & Technology, said: “The new Challenge service shows that MHEG continues as the principal method for delivering interactive services to UK viewers. With Freeview available in over 40 million homes, the Challenge application reaches this potential audience with benefits for viewers and advertisers alike.”
