LogiWays licences S&T’s RedKey™ 2 MHEG technology
London, UK – 23 June 2009: Strategy & Technology, the leading specialists in interactive TV playout systems and MHEG-5 middleware, has licensed its RedKey™ 2 MHEG technology to DVB digital TV software leader LogiWays for use by manufacturers addressing Asia Pacific and European markets.
Both companies are working to integrate the RedKey™ 2 MHEG libraries into LogiWays’ Magello DVB Software Stack for use in several regions requiring MHEG-5 functionality. These include Hong Kong, New Zealand and Australia as well as the Freeview HD services to be launched in the UK later this year.
France-headquartered LogiWays has designed Magello to address multiple market requirements right from the early days of the digital era. The high quality DVB software is already deployed by leading chipset providers and embedded on both set-top boxes and integrated high definition TV sets for Europe.
The deal with S&T strengthens LogiWays’ plan to provide a complete software solution for the single-chipset architectures deployed by major digital TV brands, through the establishment of strong relationships with an elite group of key partners.
“RedKey™ 2 is the most advanced and most stable solution we have tested,” says Arnault Olivier, CEO of the Shenzhen-based LogiWays China division. “Not only is it the easiest to integrate, but S&T also guarantees the scalability of the solution and provides efficient support.”
“By licensing S&T’s RedKey™ 2 MHEG solution, LogiWays confirms its willingness to provide value-added interactive TV solutions by taking advantage of the skills of its partner,” Olivier adds.
“We are delighted that our collaboration with LogiWays will bring new features to the Magello platform to satisfy the most advanced market requirements,” says Paul Daly, General Manager of MHEG Systems at S&T.
“S&T’s RedKey™ 2 MHEG solution will open the door to feature-rich PVR capabilities including time-shift functions and trick modes management, a host of information services, secure interactive voting and quizzes, and a new breed of hybrid interactive TV over IP services that will further enrich existing digital broadcast television.”
